Forward progress of Land Fire stopped after blaze grows to more than 100 acres

VIDEO: A wildfire erupted Wednesday afternoon in the Shadow Hills area and quickly spread to more than 100 acres before forward progress of the blaze was stopped. The so-called Land Fire was reported shortly after 1 p.m. in light-to-medium brush near the 10000 block of North Sunland Way, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. It was initially reported as a 5-acre blaze. LAFD reported the blaze grew to 107 acres by 4 p.m. Los Angeles County Fire Department and Burbank Fire Department firefighters were called in to assist the LAFD in battling the fire, and progress was stopped by about 5:10 p.m., LAFD said. Helicopters were seen performing water drops at the scene, where temperatures were in the low 80s amid 25% humidity. Containment Wednesday evening was at 40%.
