The Bakersfield Fire Department released video footage of firefighters working to knock down a fire at a vacant home early Wednesday morning in east Bakersfield. The fire broke out at a vacant home on Eureka Street near Owens Street just after 4:30 a.m. Officials said the home was undergoing remodeling. A 24-member team was called out to put out the fire. According to BFD, fire crews attacked the heavy fire and managed to contain the flames from spreading to neighboring structures. Video from the scene comes from the department’s trial run of its “fire cam,” according to BFD Battalion Chief Tim Ortiz. No injuries were reported during the fire. The cause of the fire remains under investigation and is being handled by BFD’s Arson Division.
