The property that formerly housed Long Beach’s Fire Station 9 has officially been sold to a local bakery and legacy business. The Long Beach City Council approved the $750,000 sale of the property, 3917 Long Beach Blvd., to Gemmae Bake Shop this week. Fire Station 9 occupied the location for about 81 years — until ongoing issues with mold and water damage forced the facility’s closure. Firefighters were relocated to a different, temporary home base in 2019 while the city worked on developing a new permanent location. The city eventually decided to sell the former firehouse property after determining it would be more expensive to remedy the ongoing issues at Fire Station 9 than to construct an entirely new building.
