ViIDEO: Windsor Severance Fire Rescue crews on Saturday morning rescued a dog that fell through ice. Crews responded about 9:50 a.m. Saturday to Eagle Lake, in the 1800 block of Seadrift Court in Windsor, where two dogs had fallen through ice. One of the dogs, “Tater,” pulled itself out of the water, according to Windsor Severance Fire spokesman Todd Vess. With ice rescue suits, crews were able to save the other dog, “Whisky.” The agency posted a video of the rescue to Facebook. Windsor Severance Fire Rescue reminded residents never to go out into the water or onto the ice to rescue an animal and instead call 911. Rescue crews are equipped with the proper gear, Vess explained, and an unequipped rescue attempt is more likely to make a single pet rescue into a pet and person rescue.
