Firefighters have extinguished a garbage truck that caught fire this morning near Huron Street and Colo. 7.
Broomfield police said the truck driver noticed the fire and was able to pull over to the side of the road and call first responders about 10 a.m. At the same time passing motorists were calling to report flames.
No one else was inside the truck, police spokeswoman Rachel Welte said, and no one was injured. A part of Huron, from Colo. 7 to Spring Place, was closed for a period of time.
Police said cleanup may take several hours. There are no major traffic delays as of noon, but residents may see police and fire on scene throughout the day.
