Brighton has a new fire chief. He is former Deputy Chief Mike Schuppe. Schuppe replaces former Chief Mark Bodane, whose last day is Nov. 13.
“Serving this great organization and community has been rewarding and I am truly grateful for the experience,” said Bodane in a statement. “I am confident the district will continue to do amazing work for our community under the leadership of Chief Schuppe.”
Bodane started his career in 1975 as a volunteer firefighter in Hazel Crest, Illinois. After graduating high school and EMT school, he went on to become a paramedic. Bodane became a paid firefighter/paramedic in 1979. In 1986, he was hired on at Carol Stream Fire District in Illinois. Five years later, he became the Carol Stream Fire District chief following a national search. He served there as fire chief for 16 years.
