The Lyons Fire Protection District’s board named Steven Pischke, a retired former Mountain View Fire Protection District assistant chief, to be the Lyons District’s interim chief.
The board appointed Pischke, who has been serving part time as a Lyons fire marshal since 2016, at a special June 16 meeting to fill the vacancy created when Chief J.J. Hoffman resigned from the position on June 8 in the wake of comments Hoffman had made on Facebook about racial justice protesters in Denver.
Lyons Fire Protection District President Toshen Golias said in a Wednesday email on the board’s behalf that Pischke’s appointment as interim chief was effective immediately on June 16 and will continue until the district completes its search for a new fire chief.
