Boulder investigators said they did not find any evidence of a campfire or cooking fire at the site of a wildfire above Settler’s Park, but they believe the blaze was human caused.
The fire started Monday evening and grew to almost an acre with flames 2 to 3 feet high before fire crews were able to contain it. The Knollwood neighborhood was put on pre-evacuation status, but no structures were ultimately threatened.
Boulder Fire-Rescue spokeswoman Shannon Aulabaugh said investigators did not find any evidence of a campfire or cooking fire on site. However, Aulabaugh said investigators determined the fire “was clearly a human start, as there was no natural phenomena that would have produced an ignition.”
No suspects have been identified at this time.
