A residential building on Valley View Road caught fire and was successfully put out by firefighters on Wednesday night, according to a Glenwood Springs Fire Department news release.
Fifteen firefighters responded to the structure fire at approximately 8:57 p.m. with three engines, two ambulances, a utility truck and a command vehicle.
Crews arrived on scene within five minutes to find a residential structure with active flames from the roof. Firefighters swiftly knocked down the fire and remained engaged in mop-up operations late into the night to guarantee its complete extinguishment, according to the release.
The fire seemed consistent with a chimney fire, which appears to have spread to the adjacent roof and attic space, according to the news release.
“Continuous training, coupled with robust partnerships with neighboring fire agencies, facilitates rapid responses from our team,” Incident Commander Reinhold stated in the release.
