Two city residents are facing charges in connection with the dog that was found burned July 4 in the Sandy Point Parking lot on Beach Street, police said.
Police said they believe the dog, an older Terrier breed, was dead prior to being set on fire in the parking lot.
The West Haven Police Department Detective Division obtained two arrest warrants following a lengthy investigation into the case, police said.
Latrice Moody, 35, of West Haven, the owner of the dog, is charged with animal cruelty, second-degree breach of peace, illegal dumping and open burning, police said. Moody was processed and held in lieu of bail, police said, but the amount was not noted.
A second arrest warrant was issued, for Maurice Jackson, 41, also of West Haven, for his involvement in the incident, police said.
