Firefighters turned a call into a training opportunity Saturday morning. City firefighters responded to a reported stove fire at 36 West Wooster St. around 11:20 a.m. The fire was out by the time they arrived, leaving them with only a light smoke condition to deal with. After quickly clearing the smoke, the firefighters — being the “opportunists” they are, the Danbury Fire Department wrote on Facebook — decided to “take a second to set up the ladder truck to get some training time.” Truck Company No. 1 was positioned in front of the apartment building and the Pierce Mfg 100-foot ladder was deployed for the training.
