Torrington Firefighters Local 1567 has challenged Mayor Elinor Carbone and a team from City Hall to a Public Safety Fitness Challenge. Both teams will face off in a stationary bike spinning contest, held at Odyssey Group Fitness in the Energy Fitness complex at 59 Field Street, Torrington. These businesses have donated their space and staff for the event on May 29, 5:30 p.m. All participants are raising money with pledge donations to benefit five Torrington-based youth sports organizations. Residents and businesses are asked to support the challenge by making a pledge. The fire department and City Hall employees have taken on this challenge to emphasize this message to the youth of the community. To further the message that “staying fit never gets old”, both teams have agreed to field an over-40 and over-50 contingent of riders.
