After news spread Wednesday of a line of duty death of a fire lieutenant while battling a house fire in Worcester, Mass., several Connecticut fire departments offered kind words and condolences for the man’s family and fellow firefighters.
Wednesday morning, Worcester Fire Chief Michael Lavoie announced the “devastating loss” of Lt. Jason Menard, who had been with the department since 2010.
Menard succumbed to injuries he sustained while battling a four-alarm fire at a Stockholm Street home in Worcester. He leaves behind his wife, Tina, and three children. “It is an extremely difficult day for the Worcester Fire Department,” said a Facebook post from Lavoie on the department’s page. “Lt. Menard and his crew acted selflessly and heroically. Please keep the family of Lt. Menard, his friends and crew in your thoughts and prayers.”
