Police and fire were on the scene of a fiery crash on Route 571 near New Britain Stadium. The call for the car crash came in at about 2:25 p.m. today. The driver was able to get out of the car after it hit the guardrail and before the car became fully engulfed in flames during a rain storm. Deputy Fire Chief Thomas Leahey told The Herald at the scene that the lone male driver suffered minor injuries. Leahey indicated that the wet road conditions may have been a factor in the crash. The exit ramp was reopened at 3:38 p.m.
