Michael Tiani was always around New Canaan Fire Company No. 1. He’s now given others a chance to experience it. Tiani curated an exhibit on firefighting in New Canaan that opened last weekend at the New Canaan Museum and Historical Society. It is scheduled to run through Oct. 26 in the museum’s Silvermine Room. “My father was a member since 1952, so I was always around when I was a kid,” Tiani said. “I can remember going up there in the late 60s, early 70s, going to fires with my father.” Tiani joined the Fire Department himself as a volunteer in 1985, and three years later started the career at the firehouse he continues today. The display includes radios, the one-crucial fire horn control and other historic equipment. “Firefighting gear, old fire helmets and coats, equipment like axes and hand tools,” Tiani said.
