Two firefighters suffered minor injuries Saturday afternoon fighting a fire that engulfed a garage at 26 Deer Path. The call came in around 1:15 p.m., Deputy Fire Marshal Guy Pelletier said. Crews found the garage ablaze but were able to quickly knock the fire down. As a precaution, one firefighter was taken to a hospital with a minor injury, Pelletier said. It was not immediately clear what his injury was, Pelletier said. The other injured firefighter was evaluated at the scene, Pelletier said. Turgut Yetil, who was in the house with his wife, said they got out unharmed, although some of his hair was singed. Yetil said he had just finished mowing his yard, pulled his car into the garage and about 10 minutes later was going to leave for a haircut when he noticed a burning smell. “I opened the garage door and it was dark and full of black smoke,” Yetil said. “We ran out, called 911.” Yetil said he singed his hair when he tried to fight the fire with a hose, “but it was huge. It didn’t do anything.”
