A young man is being praised as a hero after jumping into action to save his six siblings after a house fire broke out at their home in Newhall Street on Thursday night. The New Haven Fire Department responded to the fire that broke out sometime before 9 p.m. Witnesses told FOX61 that the flames were seen from the third floor of the building. No one was injured - all thanks to the actions of Tyhed Scurry. He said he was alerted of the fire from a cousin who lives nearby and quickly jumped into action to help his six siblings to safety. “The flames were mostly on that top floor, as far as we could see. The firefighters said they were on the entire third floor,” he told FOX61. “I am just grateful I got everyone out of the house in time.”
