Hazardous material and environmental protection teams were called to Candlewood Lake Road Wednesday afternoon after a heating oil truck overturned. Fire Chief Andrew Ellis said the accident resulted in “minor injuries,” and none of the product inside the truck was released. Fire crews were called to the area near Pleasant Rise around 4:43 p.m. for the accident. Fire officials said the truck contained around 1,800 gallons of home heating oil. The road was closed between Huckleberry Hill and Elbow Hill roads but later reopened. The state’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and a hazardous materials team were sent to transfer the oil from the truck, Ellis said.
