The Yale New Haven Hospital Center for EMS named Guilford Fire Department paramedic Jed Morrissey the "Paramedic of the Year" at its annual celebration, during the National EMS Week.
During the ceremony, EMS professionals are recognized for individual awards as well as unit citations for cardiac arrest saves, of which providers were able to meet the patients they saved.
And, it will come as no surprise that the Guilford Fire Department was honored with a Unit Commendation for the most 'Cardiac Arrest Saves' in 2021. Guilford firefighters saved the lives of five people in cardiac arrests last year.
In a post to Facebook, the department shared that it was "fortunate" to be joined by the families of two who were saved.
