Local officials are looking for young people to not only complete a high school graduation requirement, but also be ready to help should disaster strike. West Hartford Public Schools and West Hartford's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) are again offering a teen CERT training program during the first session of summer school, June 21-30, 2023. This class allows students to complete their Mastery Experience graduation requirement and receive their own CERT certificate. Teen CERT is taught by a certified West Hartford Public School teacher and two West Hartford CERT instructors. This class is a mix of classroom and hands-on learning. Students will earn their American Heart Association Heart Saver certificate and learn about fire safety, emergency preparedness, disaster psychology and light search and rescue.
