A fire in an apartment located above businesses in Bridgeport was doused late Tuesday night. According to Bridgeport officials, the fire broke out in the unit above 3921 Main St. around 10:30 p.m. When firefighters arrived, they reported seeing heavy smoke that came from the second floor of the building. They found the fire to be in the cockloft and contained it. The location was described as residential units over commercial businesses. Bridgeport officials said the city’s health department was called to inspect the food establishments located on the bottom floor of the address. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remained under investigation as of Wednesday morning.
