A heat wave could not stop members of the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Department and runners from sweating it out at the 5th annual 5K run/walk. The community of Rehoboth was fired up and ready to raise awareness for their local firefighters. The race was held at the Rehoboth Beach Station 86 on Rehoboth Avenue. Racing in 90 degree heat with 60 pounds of gear on their backs, volunteers of the Rehoboth Beach Fire Department joined runners of all ages. "It's good to get out there in the community we serve and just run side by side with them" says Ryan Peters, Rehoboth Beach firefighter. The Rehoboth Beach 5K race broke new records today, starting with the most runners to sign up. Two hundred and ninety six runners dedicated their Sunday morning to support their local firefighters.
