Displays and demonstrations from military and first responders surround the bandstand all day Saturday. For the 4th year, the Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce helps turn the beach red, white and blue.
Event Coordinator Emily Grothey says it's a day to say 'thank you.' "It’s a service recognition day," she says. "We’re working with our police, our first responders, the USO, and VFW.”
For USO Delaware, this support for their service members and families is heartwarming.
“We just invite all of our service members to come out and show what they do," says Program and Operations Manager Yolanda Bottorf.
The USO's games, raffle, and show troupe is joined by displays and demonstrations by Fort Miles and local, county, and state first responders.
To further the hands-on learning experiences available on Saturday, kids can even take an oath of office with the Rehoboth Beach Police Department to become junior officers.
