Police have arrested a man accused of intentionally setting a fire at a Dover apartment complex.
Dover police said that at around 6:30 a.m., officers were called to Liberty Court Apartments on Walker Road for a report of a man setting a fire. Upon arrival, officers located a bottle on fire and were able to extinguish it. Witnesses told officers that the suspect, identified as 35-year-old Benjamin Glanden, of Dover, seemed irate and threw the bottle on the roof of one of the buildings, causing damage to the roof, siding, and gutters.
During the investigation, officers located damaged gas meters on one of the buildings and a damaged golf cart nearby. Police said Glanden had damaged the gas meters with a sledgehammer. It was later determined that the golf cart was one that had been previously reported as stolen by Bayhealth.
