Emergency crews rescued a driver from a waterway that runs near the Brandywine on Wilmington's upper east side after the vehicle went off the road Monday night. Wilmington police responded around 10:40 p.m. to the 900 block of S. Park Drive, where the car was submerged in water feet from the road. The car's windows were still visible above the waterline. The Wilmington Fire Department rescued the driver from the car and took the person for treatment. The car did not have any passengers. It's unclear how or why the car went off the road. Wilmington police are investigating.
