A candle is the culprit in a Saturday morning house fire in Brandywine Hundred. When Claymont firefighters arrived on-scene in the 2500 block of Merribrook Road in Ramblewood around 10 a.m., on November 20, 2021, they found the two-story house engulfed in flames, Delaware State Fire Marshal's investigators said. No one was home, the unattended candle touched off some items near it, and the resulting fire caused about $25,000 in damage. No firefighters were hurt as they battled the flames.
