Crews were able to contain a 10-acre wildfire Monday afternoon, the Florida Forest Service Okeechobee District said. The fire ignited at George LeStrange Preserve. Large dead trees caught fire and the wind carried embers from trees towards cured mulch at the recycling plant off Glades Cut Off, according to fire officials. Firefighters with the St. Lucie County Fire District extinguished several large mulch piles. The wildfire created smoky conditions for driving on Glades Cutoff.
