It took more than three dozen firefighters from four departments to put out “a tenacious tire store blaze” in West Park on Friday evening, authorities said. The fire erupted just after closing time at 7 p.m. at Discount Tires, 4397 W. Hallandale Beach Blvd., and quickly billowed gigantic plumes of black smoke, according to a fire official. Westbound lanes of the boulevard, from Southwest 42nd Avenue to 46th Avenue, are closed and will remain so for several hours. About 30 firefighters from Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue were joined by about a dozen more from Hallandale Beach, Hollywood and Miramar to extinguish the fire. It took about an hour, said Battalion Chief Michael Kane, the spokesman.
