Fire Station 1, which houses the Clermont Fire Department’s administrative offices, will forevermore be known as “The Carle L. Bishop Fire Administration Building.” The name designation was announced by City Manager Darren Gray during a city meeting as a bronze plaque was unveiled before a room full of people. The honor is meant to recognize and celebrate Fire Chief Carle Bishop. Bishop, considered the city’s longest-tenured volunteer-turned-employee, will be retiring this month after 49 years with the department. “I am speechless. What an incredible honor. I had no idea that was being planned so I’m very overwhelmed. Thank you,” Bishop said after the presentation.
