Valdosta Fire Department is looking to defend its title as champion of Battle of the Badges: Guns vs. Hoses Blood Drive.
The fourth annual event will take place 10 a.m., July 26, at the Valdosta City Hall Annex multi-purpose room where the VFD will face the Valdosta Police Department.
The two departments will go head-to-head to see which can collect the most blood donations for the American Red Cross of South Georgia.
VFD has won the trophy for the past two years but Police Chief Brian Childress said his department is entering the blood drive with a new approach and strategy.
“We are going to take it this year,” he said. “I have a different plan this year to get the trophy back.”
Fire Chief Freddie Broome said he believes his department will continue to be the Battle of the Badges victor. VFD’s strategy is “top secret,” Broome said.
