The Lowndes County judicial complex was evacuated Thursday morning due to a fire on the second floor of the administration side of the building.
Paige Dukes, county public information officer and clerk, said there were no injuries from the fire that was quickly put out by the building's fire supression system.
"The suppression system did its job and put the fire out right away," Dukes said.
Fire and law enforcement officials arrived around 10 a.m. to the Lowndes County Judicial Administrative Complex, 327 N. Ashley St.
Dukes said the fire was electrical and happened in a data storage room just down from the county commission chambers. Witnesses at the scene said they could smell and see smoke coming from the building.
