Several members of the Johns Creek Fire Department made their way to Police Headquarters on April 8, to be recognized by the City Council for completing paramedic school. Paramedics provide advanced emergency medical services and are distinguished from other emergency medical technicians (EMTs) through additional training. The five individuals are in various stages of completing the 14-month licensing process. In addition to hours studying in the classroom and on their own time, paramedic trainees complete observations in an ambulance, emergency room, operating room, OB/GYN wars and cardiac cath lab. “I am incredibly proud of these members for stepping up and taking on this challenge to be in a position to better serve the community,” Interim Fire Chief Chris Coons said.
