A Cherokee County man has been charged with arson after he allegedly set his vehicle on fire outside a car shop in Cobb County. Timothy Daniel Coots, 35, is charged with one count each of first-degree arson, insurance fraud and giving false statements, Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services said. The investigation began the morning of April 16 when firefighters responded to a call at Jokers Audio & Wheels at 2925 Canton Road in Marietta. Cobb County Fire chief investigator Brian Beaty said Coots’ vehicle, a 2011 Cadillac CTS coupe, had been parked outside the shop “for some months” before it caught fire. Another vehicle, a 2006 Hummer H2, was also damaged in the fire, said Cobb County fire spokeswoman Denell Boyd.
