Oconee County has received an improved ISO classification of 4/4X, effective April 1, 2019, from the Insurance Services Office. The county previously held an ISO rating of 5/9.
The improved rating was achieved through a cooperative effort among several Oconee County entities. Oconee County Fire Rescue has made ongoing investments in new fire stations, fire apparatus, training, fire prevention, and public fire safety education. In addition, 911 Communications has maintained adequate dispatch circuits and emergency reporting, while Water Resources has made improvements to the water system and fire hydrant maintenance and testing.
All Oconee County Fire Rescue firefighters and medical responders are volunteers who are trained to a professional standard. These dedicated volunteers provide services to the residents and businesses of Oconee County that are worth more than $6 million.
