Six families were displaced by an early-morning fire that broke out at a DeKalb County apartment complex, according to the American Red Cross of Georgia. DeKalb fire crews were sent to the complex on the 900 block of Clubhouse Circle in Decatur about 1:20 a.m. Sunday, officials confirmed. When the firefighters arrived at the Oak Tree Villas Apartments, they saw smoke showing and started looking for the source of the fire. “ While searching for the fire, it eventually showed itself in the floor system and in the walls,” a statement from the department said. The American Red Cross of Georgia provided support for 14 people affected by the blaze, spokeswoman Sherry Nicholson said. “Caseworkers will continue to work with the families to help them begin the recovery process, including the sharing of additional resources available in the community,” she said.
