VIDEO: On Friday morning, Bibb County officers, firefighters and the public remembered peace officers who've fallen in the line of duty. The sheriff's office and fire department honor guard placed a rose for each of the 31 names that were read. Friday marked Peace Officer's Memorial Day, which is a national event that began in 2011. Bibb County Sheriff David Davis says it's important to remember the men and women who have died or become disabled in the line of duty.. "You have every kind of circumstance where some of them died in motor vehicle accidents, some died with violence and gunshots, so it just shows there are all types of peril out there for people on the front lines of public service. It's proper and meaningful that we stop and remember their service," Davis said.
