Chief Sterling Jones of the Riverdale Fire Department will join South Fulton Fire Rescue as a deputy fire chief on February 3. His career spans 26 years. Prior to joining the City of Riverdale Fire Services in 2017, he served in the deputy chief role with the City of Augusta Fire Department for nearly five years. He also spent 18 years Atlanta Fire Rescue Department where he rose to the rank of battalion chief. “Chief Jones is an experienced fire service leader and we are excited to add him to our team,” said Fire Chief Freddie Broome. “The addition of Chief Jones is yet another step toward building a world-class department.” Jones earned a master’s degree in public administration from Columbus State University and a bachelor’s degree in fire and safety engineering technology from the University of Cincinnati.
