Authorities say one person was killed and four others were injured when a car crashed into Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. The crash happened just before 8 a.m. when a woman in her 70s was bringing herself to the hospital for an appointment at the facility on 1968 Peachtree Road. Atlanta police say the woman lost control of her car, hit another car and then drove through the glass entrance into the emergency room waiting area. “Once she entered in the circle drive inside the emergency room area, she lost control over her vehicle, struck another car, and then after striking the first car, veered off and drove into the glass door entrance into the emergency room waiting area,” said police spokesman Steve Avery. “The circumstances that led to her actually having this accident, we’re not sure what they are and it’s still under investigation.” Police say she hit at least two people in the front part of the building and then “bumped” several others.
