An investigation into the origin of a Tuesday morning house fire is underway.
A heavy fire was burning on the second floor of the 523 N. Stevens St. wood frame house when Thomasville Fire/Rescue responded to the 10:11 fire call.
"It appears to be in a bedroom," said Tim Connell, interim fire chief, in reference to where the fire originated.
Fire investigators were not able to enter the house until about an hour after arriving on scene and extinguishing the blaze. An investigation into the cause of the fire began immediately.
Several occupants of the house escaped uninjured.
"We're thankful nobody was injured," Connell said.
