VIDEO: The Red Cross is assisting 11 people who lost their homes to a massive fire in Springfield early Saturday morning.
Officials with Effingham County Fire and Rescue said the fire started around 5:45 a.m. at an apartment building on 2nd Street. It caused major damage, meaning several residents will not be able to return to their units. Firefighters say the cause of fire is still under investigation, but at this time there is no foul play, such as arson, suspected.
