A woman was seriously injured when a massive fire swept through and destroyed her Canton home, officials said. The flames were so intense that they caused the vinyl siding on the home next door to melt, according to Cherokee County fire spokesman Tim Cavender. The homeowner, whose name was not released, called 911 about 7 a.m. Tuesday and reported her home on Piccadilly Place was on fire, Cavender said. She said she was trapped inside the garage and couldn’t get out, Cavender said. Within minutes, fire crews arrived and found that more than half of the house was ablaze, he said. A firefighter was able to get inside the garage and find the woman, and several other first responders helped to pull her from the house, Cavender said. She was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta to be treated for serious burns, he said.
