Students across Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools have been participating in junior fire marshal training all week to help young kids learn fire prevention skills. This is happening through a partnership with The Hartford. Officials with The Hartford said that the Junior Fire Marshal Training Academy has deputized more than 111 million kids as junior fire marshals to date. District teachers said lessons like these will help kids in the future. "Sometimes, things may be left around the house. They may see videos and they need to know how to prevent things and to tell others not to touch anything that can cause harm or danger,” A.B. Williams Elementary Third-grade Teacher Cara Jordan said. The Hartford has committed $5,000 to support the district’s fire safety education efforts.
