The Dekalb County Fire Marshal's Office finished going through apartments at Arrive Perimeter Tuesday, as they continue to investigate what caused an explosion that's now forcing residents to find a new place to stay.
Around 8 a.m., dozens of vehicles with Atlanta Gas Light arrived at the complex in Dunwoody, alongside crews with Dekalb County Fire. Since the explosion 10 days ago, natural gas service has been shut off at the complex; but Atlanta Gas said they released a controlled amount at the direction of the Dekalb County Fire Marshal. Investigators are trying to determine if there was a leak and how that leak happened after several residents reported smelling gas before the explosion.
The blast damaged 25 units, leaving one building in particular unstable.
Attorneys representing about 80 residents were at the apartment complex Tuesday to ensure investigators didn’t demolish any of the units, worried it could hinder their own investigation.
