A Georgia fire department crew found itself in need of a rescue when its fire truck got stuck in a giant hole in a parking lot. It happened Tuesday around 3:50 p.m. outside the Goodwill off Peach Orchard Road in Augusta. The Augusta Fire Department says one of its engines slowed down to go over a speed bump when suddenly the pavement collapsed. The department shared photos showing a hole under the pavement at least a couple of feet deep. Fire officials cordoned the area off for safety. Crews inspected the truck and found no damage to it, but it did take other equipment to remove it safely. The average fire truck can weigh 19 to 30 tons, according to the fire department. Once it was removed, the engine went back into its regular service.
