VIDEO: Statesboro Fire Crews responded to a fire at a Caramel Drive home Tuesday afternoon.
They are still trying to determine the cause.
“They wanted to know: How did this thing start? How did this thing happen?” said Statesboro Deputy Fire Chief Bobby Dugar.
These are the questions homeowners are asking after a fire destroyed their home. When Statesboro Fire Department arrived on the scene Tuesday, part of the house collapsed. This coming after the back of the house was already destroyed from the flames.
Statesboro’s Fire Captain telling me responders could see the fire’s smoke from their station, over a mile and a half away from the home itself.
“Before units arrived on scene, they were already making calls... ‘Heavy fire,’ ‘Heavy smoke.’ They could see the smoke while responding,” said Statesboro Fire Captain Rabon Hutchinson.
