The Savannah Fire Department launched its "Keep the Wreath Green" campaign on Tuesday.
It is a tradition that aims to promote fire safety as the community heads into the holiday season.
At the center of the campaign is a big wreath that hangs above the Savannah Fire Department headquarters, woven with green bulbs. Anytime the city has a structure fire, a green bulb will be replaced with a red bulb. Savannah Fire officials said, "The red light will serve as a reminder of the importance of fire safety and the need to be vigilant during the holiday season, and SFD hopes the bulbs will inspire residents to take action."
Cinda Seamon, fire and life safety educator, says the goal is to have no red lights this holiday season.
