Bulloch County now has a newly renovated fire station for firefighters to call a second home.
Station 2 is the old Portal Fire Department along West Highway 80, and Tuesday residents got the chance to see what it looks like inside.
Bulloch County has added places for firefighters to sleep as well as showers and kitchens.
All of these renovations come after Bulloch County added more full-time firefighters a few years ago. The fire chief explained today why having this extension to the building is a game changer for them.
“The north part of the county has been underserved for many years. And what used to be 20, 25 minute response times is now down to 10 or even less,” said Ben Tapley, Fire Chief, Bulloch County Fire Department.
