Guam Fire Department rescue units were called to Gun Beach Saturday evening, where two swimmers were in distress over the reef, according to spokesman firefighter Kevin Reilly. "One female made it back to shore," Reilly said in a news release. "However, the other female ... was located over the reef by lifeguards, pulseless and breathless." Units responded at 5:45 p.m., and Rescue 2 personnel pulled the victim and lifeguards onto their boat and transported them to Hagåtña Boat Basin at 6:09 p.m., with CPR being conducted on the victim, Reilly said. The woman, who was in her 20s, was taken to Naval Hospital Guam. The lifeguards were also examined and taken back to Gun Beach. The swimmer who made it back to shore was taken to Guam Regional Medical City to be evaluated for exhaustion and minor injuries, Reilly said.
