The fourth drowning victim of the year was identified as Kiwoong Han, according to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Han, 26, died from asphyxia due to drowning and his manner of death was ruled an accident after an autopsy was done. A park patrol officer pulled him from the water on Jan. 28 at Gov. Joseph Flores Memorial Park at Ypao Beach, according to Guam Fire Department. Medics conducted CPR on Han at the scene and on the way to the hospital. Earlier that day, the National Weather Service warned people in Guam, Rota, Tinian and Saipan that seas were hazardous and there was a high risk of rip currents. Other drowning victims this year included a man and a woman who were pulled from a golf course lake on Jan. 10, and Petty Officer 3rd Class Daniel Perez, who drowned while snorkeling in the Piti bomb hole area Jan. 11.
