All executive branch workers in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands are now required to be vaccinated for COVID-19, unless there are compelling medical or religious reasons to exempt them.
“In response to the pandemic and in the interest of mitigating the spread of the virus, and facilitating a healthy and safe work environment, all employees of the executive branch of the CNMI government are mandated to receive the COVID-19 vaccination,” the CNMI governor’s office stated Friday.
The mandate doesn't apply to other branches of the CNMI government.
“This policy is adopted to safeguard the health and well-being of employees and their families, patrons, clients, visitors, others who spend time in our facilities and the community from the risks associated with COVID-19,” states the directive issued by Gov. Ralph Torres. According to the directive, the vaccination requirement complies with federal and local guidance and authority.
